5 Stop: Diabetes Movement Camps

Sewa 1

HOUSTON: The ancient art of Yoga seeks to accomplish one simple goal with respect to the human body: to enhance human life; it therefore stands to reason that if the basic life-bearing mechanisms of the human body can be strengthened, then the quality of life and life itself may be infinitely extended. This concept of yogic potential has motivated VYASA (Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana) to utilize the art to tackle a variety of health issues. One such problem is Diabetes – a widespread metabolic disease that affects millions around the world. With a research-backed program, the organization has decided to pair with Sewa Houston in order to launch Stop Diabetes Movement (SDM) camps throughout the city.

The 11-week long camps will offer a total of 40 hours of yoga training on a weekly basis, focusing on theory and practice. Each camp will also have trained instructors and doctors for aid. Attendees should bring medical and recent blood reports and consult their physicians prior to the camps. Furthermore, the $350 initial deposit paid will be completely refunded given that the attendee has satisfied the attendance requirements.

The SDM camps seek to not simply teach, but to make individuals self-reliant with their yoga practice to overcome their obstacles; it will arm them with ancient techniques for rejuvenation by creating a diverse repertoire of yogic practices and understanding. It is thereby recommended that participants attend as much of the camp sessions as possible, as well as the follow-up sessions that are offered, as this will maximize the overall benefit for the individual.

By combining a healthy lifestyle with healthy choices, one gains the advantage over death itself. Therefore, only by consciously understanding how the body works in conjunction with yoga can one achieve liberation from the physical pains of the world.
