FIS Honors Ram Jethmalani

HOUSTON: On September 24, Foundation for India Studies (FIS) presented a Memento to Ram Jethmalani, an eminent Lawyer, Member of Parliament and a former Minister of Law and Justice for his “Lifelong efforts to uphold India’s laws and Constitution, and Social Justice”. Ram Jethmalani, during a short trip to Houston visited the University of Houston Law Center and spoke on “Secularism under Indian Constitution”. In the evening, he was interviewed in Asia Society-Texas Center by its Chairman, Charles Foster on the “Rule of law in India and the country’s changing social dynamics in an emerging world”.
FIS Chair, Krishna Vavilala presented Jethmalani with a Memento in the evening session held in Asia Society auditorium which was a ticketed event. This was the second time FIS and Asia Society-Texas had partnered in an event since 2009 when Ambassador T.P. Sreenivasan’s lecture was jointly presented in United Way facility located at 50 Waugh Drive, which was also a ticketed event.
