PEARLAND: The Tamil month of Aadi (July16 – August17) is considered very auspicious for worshipping the Goddess Shakthi and her different forms. Prayers and Deepa pooja on Tuesdays and Fridays of this month to the goddess are believed to relieve us from negative influences, ill health and bring prosperity and happiness to our lives.

The sun is the King and Moon is the queen of planets. When the king gives his undivided attention to the queen ,the queen becomes very powerful. On July16, the sun moves into the constellation of cancer, governed by moon. Since cancer is a house of loss [for the sun] and moon changes so quickly ,it will tend to cause fear ,anger and give way to negative influences in people’s lives. Praying the goddess on Aadi Fridays will protect us from the ill effects of Sun in Cancer. The power of Goddess doubles up and she revives the cosmos with her celestial energies, during this month.

Aadi sukravara Deepa Pooja was celebrated at MTS on Friday August 15 with great devotion by more than 75 lady devotees who participated in the Pooja. The stage was beautifully decorated with utsava murthis of Perumal, Shree Devi and BhooDevi Thayar. Eight Silverlamps and Kalasams were adorned with flowers and were invoked to represent Ashtalakshmis. The main temple Hall was lined up with lamps and Pooja samagri before every lamp. The women sat down before the lamps and conducted Vighneswara pooja, followed by ashtalakshmi pooja and recited Maha Lakshmi ashtakam and Lakshmi Sahasranamam. Many varieties of Prasadam were prepared for the pooja, by the devotees who attended. The pooja was led by Priests Shri Sridharan Raghavan and Shri Pawan Kumar who had set up the alankara (beautiful decoration of the divine Lord with his consorts) in preparations for the Pooja. The MTS staff deserves our thanks for the eye catching nature of the decorations and the display stand used at the event. The event was co-ordinated by Mrs.Nachal Sethuraman. .
