Continuing the tradition of an Annual Season of quality cultural arts events at prestigious venues, Indo-American Association (IAA) announces its 2016 Season of ten events, beginning with the first concert “Bollywood and Hollywood Brass Extravaganza” on February 19.

True to the organization’s mission of promoting cultural arts of India in the American context, the events represent a spectrum of cross-cultural performances in music, dance, and drama. In the mix are Bollywood, Hollywood, Shakespeare, and Gypsies. For the Indo-American Association in 2016 all the world is stage!

As in previous years, IAA offers Patron Subscription ($1,000 gets 2 VIP tickets for each event, value $2,500) and Season Subscription ($250 gets one ticket in next to VIP category for each event, value $600). Feb 19th: Hollywood and Bollywood Brass Extravaganza by River City Brass

The IAA 2016 Season offers:
Friday February 19, 8pm, Cullen Theater at Wortham: Bollywood & Hollywood Brass Extravaganza. The twenty-two member River City Brass spectacularly performs musical hits of Bollywood and Hollywood that will have you dancing in your seats! Specially commissioned by IAA for its 2016 Season opener.

Friday April 15, 8pm, Cullen Theater at Wortham: The Flowering Tree- a Dance Drama with English narration by Natya Dance Theater Company, Chicago.

Saturday May 14, 8:30pm, Brown Theater at Wortham: Hariharan-Zakir Hussain in HAZIR, a GHAZAL concert like you have never experienced before!

Sunday June 5, 6pm, Asia Society Auditorium: Ustad Shahid Parvez (Sitar)- Lalgudi Krishnan (Violin), a Carnatic-Hindustani instrumental Jugalbandi with corresponding percussions.

Friday July 1, 8pm, Brown Theater at Wortham: SHANKAR-EHSAN-LOY bring taare zameen par. The trio led by highly acclaimed singer Shankar Mahadevan is a darling of Bollywood. With an ensemble of more than thirty musicians and singers, they perform their popular hits and pay special tribute to “Taare Zameen Par (Every Child is Special)”. A Bollywood musical can’t get any better!

Friday July 22, 8pm, Brown Theater at Wortham: Ballet Romeo & Juliet in Kathak. A troupe of fifty dancers from Padamavibhushan Birju Maharaj’s Kalashram presents the classic Shakespearian play as a ballet in Kathak- a first time ever in USA.

Friday September 16, 8pm, Cullen Theater at Wortham: The Gypsy Caravan. In a colorful extravaganza, a troupe of 35 musicians and dancers trace the cultural and musical migration of Gypsies from Rajasthan to Eastern Europe and Spain.

Sunday October 2, 7pm, Cullen Theater at Wortham. Zakir Hussain-Niladri Kumar- a classical Sitar concert to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday.

Saturday October 8, 8pm, Kaplan Theater, Jewish Community Center: English play ‘CHAOS THEORY’ by EnActe Theater Company of Bay Area, California. A funny, witty, and contemporary tragicomedy of a love story between two professors!

Saturday November 5, 8pm, Cullen Theater at Wortham. IAA will conclude the 2016 Season with a concert by an icon of North-Indian vocal classical music known for mesmerizing audiences with Khyal, Thumri, and Bhajan.  Details to be finalized soon.
