HOUSTON: “The purpose of Art is washing the dust of daily life of our souls” Pablo Picasso

India House, a regular and popular venue of varied cultural and social events, hosted a Paint & Wine Workshop on Saturday, April 23 which was conducted by renowned local artist Gopaal Seyn. It was a fun filled evening where people came together from all walks of life to spend a fruitful evening socializing and creating an artwork from scratch.

India House Executive Director Vipin Kumar welcomed all participants on behalf of India House with a promise to bring many more such events to India House in near future. He then introduced Gopaal Seyn to the guests and requested him to give some glimpses of his artistic career. In his own words, “Art relaxes the tired mind and takes out the daily grind from life as we all know that it could throw a curved ball at us in an instant. So we all need a break to do something that we have never done before.”

Paint & Wine Workshop was an art entertainment created for individuals without any artistic background. Most of the participants commented that they had never painted on a canvas in their life, but at the end of the class they were happy campers proudly signing on the canvas that they had created.

This was a step by step painting session where Gopaal, assisted by his wife Lali, guided the participants through the night’s featured painting. They were provided canvas, paint, brushes, munchies and Wine. At the end of the session each participant was able to create his/her own masterpiece and was allowed to take it with them to cherish the memories for ever.
