Late surges and miraculous comebacks are nothing new for Mumbai Indians . They seem to thrive in adverse situations and somehow it brings the best out of the Mumbai outfit. Sunday was no different. With just two games remaining for them in the league stages of 2016 IPL, they needed to win both to be in the contention for the playoffs.

With that equation looming, and playing at the new home ground, the VDCA Cricket Stadium at Visakhapatnam where their batting struggled on the previous two occasions, Mumbai managed to pull off their best batting performance this season to trounce Delhi Daredevils by 80 runs in the 47th match of the 2016 IPL.

Once Mumbai managed to post a total in excess of 200, 206 to be precise – the highest ever score registered at the ground – overcoming the slowness of the track, the battle was half won. And by removing Delhi’s top-order inside the first ten overs, Mumbai well and truly sealed two points in their favour without much fuss. With this win, Mumbai jumped to third spot, while Delhi slipped one down to fifth.
