IACCGH Recognizes the Contributions of President Brij Kathuria

HOUSTON: During 2009, Brij Kathuria served as President of the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Houston (IACCGH). Under his steady leadership the organization grew its programs and expanded its’ influence in the greater Houston area.
Since its inception 1999, IACCGH has been committed to facilitating commerce between the U.S. and India. The group offers networking, training, trade missions and mentoring to enable Indo-American businesses to succeed while providing access to the Indo-American market.
During the course of this year and under Kathuria’s guidance, IACCGH announced an alliance between the University of Houston and BIT in Mesra, India . Corporate sponsorships grew and alliances now exist with Lufthansa, Prudential, Shell Oil, BMC Software, Continental Airlines and Reliant Energy. And this year’s annual golf tournament with co-hosted with Pratham USA where part of the proceeds were utilized to encourage literacy in India.
The annual gala which took place in October, entitled, The Power of Ten, reinforced the extraordinary work of the founders, board members, advisors and chamber members in strengthening the commercial, cultural and educational bonds between the United States and India—the world’s two largest democratic nations. At the event ten prominent members of the Indo-American community were recognized for their pioneering efforts to enhance business and trade relationships between the two countries.
Also during the tenure of Mr. Kathuria, the Chamber continued its networking and business development opportunities bridging the two cultures by bringing resources and creating awareness (of India) among the Greater Houston Community. This year, the program was expanded to include Young Professionals networking events to provide young Indo-American professionals guidance at an early stage in their career and the Business of Medicine Series for physicians as well as the Small Business Series which educated small business owners on how to avoid check fraud. Our Distinguished Lecture Series sponsored by Shell launched a Thought Leadership Series for young and professional Indo-American women. IACCGH also continued its community outreach, diversity and education initiatives.

Brij Kathuria has helped us deliver on many of those goals in our 10th year”, said Executive Director, Jagdip Ahluwalia. “We are all grateful to Brij for his tireless support of the Indo-American community. We also thank Secretary Mona Parikh, Treasurer Jonathan Faulkner and the board for their support and we welcome and congratulate our 2010 incoming president, Mr. Madhukar Prasad and his team”.
