India Culture Center Elects its Executive Board for 2010

HOUSTON- On Jan 10, the India Culture Center held its elections to select its Executive Board for the year 2010.
Lead Election Officer Jagdip Ahluwalia was ably assisted by two other Officers Mahendra Patel and Ramesh Anand. The elections were conducted at India House.
The Executive Board was unanimously elected to their respective positions to serve in 2010. They were Swapan Dhairyawan elected President, Atul Vir elected Vice President, Nimmi Vale elected Secretary and Hemantkumar Patel elected Treasurer.
Keshu Patel will serve as immediate past president in the Executive Board of 2010. The term of new Executive Board will be from February 2010 to January 2011. The newly elected President thanked the entire Board for making a unanimous decision and dedicating their valuable time to community service. He also stated that in the 35 years of history ICC would have the first Maharashtrian President at the helm of the organization.
The Executive Board will be supported by 11 other Board of Directors and seven Trustees of the ICC. Directors who were newly elected for the year 2010 are Raj Bhalla, Chandrakant (Charlie) Patel, Sheela Kore, Veena Ponnaganti, Rafi Ansar, Ramesh Cherivirala, Rajiv Bhavsar & Surender Talwar. The Directors continuing their term are Yamuna Srinidhi, Jasmeeta Singh and Manisha Mehta.
The selection of New Trustees to the ICC was also completed at this meeting. The New Trustees inducted for 3 year term were Shobana Muratee, Bangar Reddy & Vale Subramaniam (all Past Presidents of ICC) and for 2 year term were Hasu Patel & Harvinder Arora. The continuing Trustees of ICC are Dr Sewa Legha & Meera Kapur.
The ICC is the oldest serving Indo American organization operating in Greater Houston with sixteen other affiliated organizations.
About India Fair 2010
HOUSTON- India Culture Center (ICC) in collaboration with India’s Consulate General in Houston and major Indo-American organizations in Greater Houston will be celebrating India’s 61st Republic Day on Sunday January 31st 2010 at New Stafford Center, Stafford.
This year the celebrations will take place at the New Stafford Center from 11: 00 am to 7:00 pm which includes flag honoring by Chief Guest Consul General Sanjiv Arora, a delightful cultural program and an exciting beauty Pageant Miss Teen India Texas USA.
More than 35 commercial, corporate, non profit and food booths will be available for shopping and fun all day long. There would be 13 local dance schools participating in various age groups & categories. The Teen Pageant registration is set at 20 & has received an overwhelming response already. The event will also be filled with exciting Raffle prizes. The event has received a great boost with the Team effort put in by the organizers.
Each year the ICC sets a theme for the Republic Day, through which it recognizes not only India’s achievements but of those Indo-American who have contributed to the glory of the motherland. This year’s theme ‘Our India Our Pride’ will dedicate to such individuals, students and organizations who continue to spread the culture of their Motherland India– living thousands of miles away from her. Nominations are sought for these 3 Award Categories before January 18th 2010. |
