The Eid Fashion Expo and concert was well received by a mix crowd of young and old. The entertainment by Naeem Abbas Rufi was electrifying - in all a thumbs up!
For Muslims, Eid is a special day that heralds a festive fortnight. To make the occasion all more memorable, Rehan Siddiqi of HumTum Radio organised an Eid Fashion Expo and concert featuring prominent Pakistani singer Naeem Abbas Rufi, who paid a tribute to maestro Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.
The fashion show was hosted by Beenish and Moon with models opening up their walk in a pitch-dark auditorium with diyas in their hand. The clothes were courtesy of Poshak featuring their exclusive line of Deepak Perwani’s collection along with jewelry from Diyas designers. The event was well received with a mixed crowd of young and old. It was broadcast in 135 countries by ARY Digital.
Rehan Siddiqi, president of HumTum Radio, praised the people of Houston for making it a special Eid for him and for their participation. The musical evening started at 9:00 pm with Naeem Abbas Rufi opening up with “Wohi Allah”, which was received by a huge round of applause. The engertainment lasted till 10:30pm with back-to-back songs of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. During one of the songs, Houston’s dance maestro Masterjee (featured in movie Where’s the Party Yaar) showcased his moves in front of a cheering crowd.
Many prominent figures of the Houston community were also present at the event including Ghulam Bombaywala, former president of PAAGH; Irfan Moosa of SevenSeas Promotions, Inc and Javed Meghani of Megaenergy - who was also the main sponsor of the event. Al-Hoang was there to educate and gain endorsement for the city council district F election.
The most innovative moment of the Fashion Expo was the live singing by Naeem Abbas during the walk. Usually fashion walks are done with background music but this innovation might become a trademark for HumTum. Overall, the Eid Fashion Expo was full of energy and excitement -- this is what the doctor ordered to end the first day of Eid.
Radio HumTum is aired on 1180AM and is hosted by Rehan Siddiqi. For more information log on to humtumshows.com
