Indo-American Nightingales: Kruthi, Keerthana

HOUSTON: Sisters Keerthana and Kruthi were born into a family of musicians. They started learning music at an early age from their mother Vidushi Rajarajeshwary, grandmother Krishnaveni and uncle Violin Vidwan Vittal Ramamurthy. COMMUNITY They are well grounded in classical music. They carry the audience into heavenly heights with their melodious voices and large repertoire. They participate in musical events and competitions regularly in addition to giving mini-concerts.

They are in constant demand for singing the invocatory prayers and the Indian/USA national anthems at Cultural and Religions events. They also provide vocal support in their mother’s concerts. Their passion to music, perfection and excellence in all their undertakings makes 10th grader Keerthana of Clear Lake High school and 7th grader Kruthi of Space Center Intermediate school a special treat to listen to. The commendable feathers to their musical cap, the sisters have also released a CD for the Karnataka State government, which was directed by Vidushi Rajarajeshwary.

The sisters also offer their vocal musical talent to the musical troupe Ragas. They have won many prizes in music competitions including the Cleveland Tyagaraja Aradhana. They also play the western violin for their school orchestras. Also gifted in visual arts, their pastel work was on display along with their music at the Children’s Museum of Houston as part of their annual Seasons of Sharing celebration. Keerthana has also won prizes in Science Fairs and has competed at the Texas State level. They also volunteer regularly at Music, Arts and Medical institutions.
