Longtime residents of Houston still remember the glittering Best of India Arts and Crafts store at Galleria that was operated by the Late Raj Kumar Kamnani. The store was set up in 1971. After 35 years in 1990, India Jewellers was set up at the Southwest Freeway location. There has been no looking back since then for the Kamnanis.

Brothers Gobind and Narain Kamnani currently run the store. Jewellery, arts and crafts have always been a fascination for us, claims Gobind Kamnani. I was fascinated by the way each art/jewellery piece is created and manufactured and hence opted to know more about them after my graduation.

Ever since then, the interest has just been growing and its been a great learning experience so far, he adds. In addition to various unique arts and crafts, the store offers and deals specifically in diamonds and fine, quality stones. Quality, is something that we do not compromise on, say the brothers.

Every store tends to cater to a certain target customer and they carry goods accordingly. Hence it is imperative that one researches on the quality of what s/he wants to buy. Hence we make sure that our customer understands the quality of the product that we are providing them with. We do this irrespective of whether the customer would like to buy the product immediately or not, informs Gobind.

We also make sure the customer understands the pros and cons of what s/he is buying. For example: Because of the importance of the engagement ring and what it represents, the expectations for quality tend to be higher than other diamond fashion jewelry, such as pendants and earrings. The cost of sizing a ring, setting a stone, refurbishing a band, fixing broken prongs, replacing the shank or tightening loose stones can add up over the years. Hence we emphasize on informing the customers on all that they need to know adds, Narain. The brothers have also participated and hosted art shows in the past year on the collection of art that they have. They plan to do the next show sometime soon.

India Jewellers has products that is beyond one’s imagination. The collection, be it diamonds, fine jewelley or even collection of rare artifacts is one of its kind. In additon to the regular designs, this year, India Jewellers plan to create jewellery desings for the young generation. Gobind says, it is important for a customer to take all factors into consideration and go with a jeweler that meet their specific needs. Hence honesty and trust play a very crucial role between the customer and jeweller.

If the jeweller has a collection that the customer wants, the mounting that they like, the price that is agreeable, then the jeweller will stand by the product in a way that makes the customer comfortable.
