Agra beyond the Taj Mahal – Part I
Most people, in fact anyone you speak to who has visited Agra as a tourist, will tell you it is a dump, they are not far from wrong. Anyone venturing there, which pretty much means all tourists, visits the Agra Fort, the Taj Mahal and then gets out as quickly as their preferred mode of transport and the congested roads will allow. But you see, I am a destination explorer, I rarely visit the main sites but set out to discover what else a place has to offer and also I am a firm believer in doing what I am told can’t be done. What I discovered on my recent trip to Agra was that whilst it is a pretty hard place to fall in love with, it is a fascinating city with far more to offer than we give it credit for.
