STAFFORD: History of diabetes runs in Kalpesh Patel’s family so about six months ago he started spreading the word about the BAPS Charities annual walkathon benefiting American Diabetes Association and Stafford MSD Education Fund.  In keeping with its theme, “Building a Better Community, One Step at a Time,” the BAPS Charities 13th annual walkathon was held on Sunday, May 5, 2012 in Sugarland, Texas.  Along with Mr. Patel, over 700 members of the community participated in this year’s walkathon for a singular purpose; participants of all ages joined hands and raised funds to support this year’s local beneficiary.

“Organizing this event was a great honor,” said Nilkanth Patel, president of BAPS Charities. “It’s such a great feeling to be able to serve the community. BAPS Charities Annual Walkathons bring together people of all ages for a noble cause and the energy and excitement in each walker makes this event successful and enjoyable.”

As part of raising awareness of this 5k walk, Kalpesh Patel and volunteers of BAPS Charities brought sponsors like Piping Tech & Products, Forge USA, Clinical Pathology Labs, Wedge Energy Services, SBD, 4th Dimension, Akshar/Shriji Properties, Bay Star Ambulance , Club 24 and many others to contribute to this year’s walkathon.
