STAFFORD: What do you get when you combine the following:  a bowling event, a soccer game, some soccer fanatics, a separate viewing room with TVs, parents and kids wearing jerseys, and plenty of salad and pizza for all.

You get the 9th Annual IIT Alumni of Greater Houston Bowling event held at Main Event in Stafford on Saturday, June 28 while Brazil got to play Chile in the World Cup round of 16 and advance to the next round.

All 16 lanes were reserved at the sold-out IIT Alumni of Greater Houston event.  With over 100 people in attendance, IITAGH continued on its success from the IIT 2013 Conference.

“We focus on three main areas,” said Pratish Kanani, President of IITAGH.  “We help our members connect and have a number of events planned for that, we have events around professional development, and finally we have events that help us give back to our local community.”

There was a palpable tension in the air as Brazil and Chile battled on into overtime and then finally into penalty kicks.  Partha Chatterjee shared, “I couldn’t have asked for a better Saturday.  Brazil advanced and we got to experience a great game hanging out with friends just like we used to during our college days.  Just fantastic!”

With a never-ending supply of food, and the game presented on big screens throughout the facility, the soccer crazies watched the game in the separate viewing room, while others spent time bowling and perfecting their technique.  Aaggrim Sabharwal, one of the event organizers, handed out prizes for the most Stylish Bowler, the Craziest Soccer Fanatic, and the Best Bowler.

Pratish Kanani announced, “Like IITAGH on Facebook and connect to us on LinkedIn.  Go to our website and sign up for our mailing list.  Stay tuned for upcoming events. Now let’s get back to the game. GO BRAZIL!”
