Dr. Avinash Chandra Parti 1941-2016

????????

Dr. Avinash Chandra Parti passed away peacefully on April 17, 2016 in Sugarland, Texas.

Dr. Parti was born in Jalandhar, India on July 10, 1941.  He received his medical degree from the Government Medical College of Patiala, Punjab.  Before moving to the United States, he practiced as a registrar in Amritsar, India.

He practiced as an internist in the Houston area for over thirty years.  He was considered a physician with amazing diagnostic abilities, who was approachable, dependable, and devoted to not only his patients, but also to his friends and family.

He will be best remembered for his kindness, compassion, but mostly for his love of life.  He enjoyed cricket, tennis, Houston Rockets basketball and loved good food and good company.  Dr. Parti was witty with a wonderful sense of humor, and he could always make you smile. He always had a way with children.   They loved him and he loved them.   He was generous and contributed to many charities and organizations.  These attributes are not known to most of us, as he was the most humble, down-to-earth individual.

Along with many friends in the greater Houston community, Dr. Parti is survived by his wife Shakun; daughters, Ashna and Avina; son–in-law Bryan; and grandchildren Daya, Rohan and Nina for whom he was affectionately known as their Gappu.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at the Garden Oaks Funeral Home, and a memorial and prayer ceremony was held at the Gurdwara Sahib of Southwest Houston on April 23, 2016.
