HOUSTON: On an overcast day that kept temperatures in the comfortable range, hundreds of families made up of a diverse group of nationalities enjoyed Ibn Sina Foundation’s Fun and Fit Children’s Health Fair at the new State-of-the-Art Children’s clinic located at 11220 South Wilcrest Drive in Houston.

Members of the Ibn Sina Foundation’s Board of Directors also attended the festive event, with large banners, flags, signs and balloons attracting the attention of motorists as they drove along South Wilcrest Drive and Stancliff.

The large crowd gathered from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm as children were provided with free medical services in a fun atmosphere.

Children laughed and screamed with delight as they petted the baby goats and other animals at the Petting Zoo, brightened their mood with face painting, fought imaginary foes with balloons twisted into the shape of  swords, posed for gleeful selfies with a Police Officer after racing to get a first-hand look at a real police car, delighted in the big red Fire Truck and firefighters dressed in full gear, took off their shoes to bound through an enormous obstacle course/bounce house, leaped up on the carousel rides, waited patiently for popcorn, cotton candy, cookies, apples, bananas and juice, and bounced along to the beat of radio stations entertainment and Zumba demonstrations.

In addition, many families took advantage of an opportunity to tour the new, State-of-the-Art Children’s Clinic, which officially opened to the public on Monday, April 25.

Families lined up to register for the new Children’s Clinic’s many free and low-cost services, and visited Vendor Booths set up by a myriad of organizations, including Aflac, Texans Together Education Fund, Houston Health and Human Services’ Women’s Infants and Children (WIC) Program, Alief Community Center, CHIP, Change Happens, Lab Test Diagnostics, New York Life Insurance, Identity Theft Protection, Enroll America and Voter Registration tables.
