IITAGH Social Event – a Mid-Summer Rendezvous

HOUSTON: IITAGH (IIT Alumni of Greater Houston) organized a social event with alumni and family on Saturday, August 27 at India House. IITAGH is organizing the IIT 2013 Global Conference in Houston December 6-8, 2013 and the IIT leaders from PanIIT USA organization were present to share their views and feedback.

Event started with a hearty welcome address from Witty Bindra, President IITAGH and Chair of IIT 2013 Global Conference. He was excited that so many alumni and their families gathered for the event. He thanked all the volunteers for their hard work and planning to make this a successful event. He also provided a brief update on the progress made for the IIT 2013 Global Conference. Next up was an exuberant group of kids for the talent show. The kids put up an exhilarating show that included piano, violin, dance, singing and a magic show. The audience enjoyed the show immensely and cheered loudly after each act.

Show was followed by a sumptuous lunch catered by Madras Pavilion. The fare was appreciated by all present. Sid Chowdhary, the PanIIT USA President, addressed the audience and extolled the members to be involved with the conference and gain from networking and counseling just like he did. Arjun Sen, the PanIIT USA Vice-President, recounted the pleasure of being active in the alumni organization and the joy of putting together such events. Both of them appreciated the tremendous strides already made by IITAGH in hosting the conference. Finally, Smita Bagla, PanIIT USA Chapter Liaison, talked about extending the network and getting registrants from other cities to attend and support the conference.

The last event of the day was the “Tambola” where the alumni tried their luck in making the winning numbers. Everyone had a great time. Sundy Srinivasan, the MC for the event, was as eloquent and entertaining as ever. All the assembled alumni and their families had a fabulous time, enjoying each other’s company.

Together, the conference team is confident to deliver the IIT 2013 Global conference – focused on “Inspiring Innovation for Tomorrow”. Judging by the social event and the feedback from PanIIT leaders, IITAGH will make Houston proud.
