Independence Day Flag Hoisting at Consul General’s Residence

To celebrate India’s 69th Independence Day, Flag Hoisting Open House for Indian nationals, members of the Indian American community and friends of India was held on August 15, at the residence of P. HOUSTON:  To celebrate India’s 69th Independence Day, Consul General, P. Harish hosted a Flag Hoisting for Indian Nationals, members of the Indian American community and Friends of India at his residence on August 15, at 8.30 AM.

This function was attended by a large gathering representing the Indian-American community in Greater Houston and neighboring cities in a broad based manner.  Over 300 guests from diverse walks of life, including elected representatives and their officials attended the Flag Hoisting.  Representatives of business, universities, think-tanks, arts & culture, media, international students from India studying at various universities; and representatives of several Indian-American community fora also attended.

The programme comprised unfurling of the Tricolor; singing of the National Anthem; reading the President’s Address; singing of patriotic songs by students of Krishna Gana Sudha Music Academy (KGSMA), Houston; cultural performance by student of Anjali Center for Performing Arts; presentation of gifts to students; and serving High Tea.

The Indian-American community has been expressing deep appreciation for successive ‘Open Houses’ held at Consul General’s residence to celebrate India’s National Days, with large and enthusiastic participation.
