India swamps

India outclassed a lower-ranked Oman 9-1 to record its second successive victory in the Round 2 of the Hero Hockey World League (HWL) at the National Stadium here on Wednesday.  The host occupied the top slot in the table with six points from two big wins. India, placed 11th in the world, faced a little resistance than it had expected from the 36th-ranked Oman.  Coached by 1992 Olympic gold medallist German Oliver Kurtz, who once worked with the Indian side, the Oman players moved well, closed the gaps and initiated counterattacks whenever they got an opportunity….
