ATLANTIC CITY, N.J., United States: Mansee Sangani, a 21-year-old Indian American from Norwood, Mass., was crowned Miss India USA 2014 at the Jewel of India pageant, headed by entrepreneur Juhi Jagiasi, Mar. 2 at Caesars Casino and Resort here.

Sangani is a graduate student at the University of Massachusetts Boston in the school of management. She is also a full time laboratory technician at Foundation Medicine Inc.

Sangani will be representing Jewel of India at an international pageant soon to be held in India.

Shruti Thakkar was crowned Miss India International and Priyanca Modi was crowned Miss Jewel of India.

Thakkar will go on to represent Jewel of India at Miss India International in Florida, and Modi will be representing Jewel of India in all their future fashion shows and events.

Sangani was previously crowned as Miss India New England 2012-13. When asked in an interview what the Miss India USA title meant to her, she said, “As Indian women we are spiritually nourished and fortified by a culture that goes far beyond recorded history. We are physically resilient, mentally strong and spiritually fortified.”

The pageant “is really a test of that,” she added. “To be kind, humble and gracious are all qualities that define a beautiful women, and I feel honored and privileged to have this title.”
