BUENA PARK – A 20-year-old man, Rodie Durazo, was arrested Dec. 9 on suspicion of vandalizing the parking lot of the Gurdwara Singh Sabha in Buena Park, Calif., last weekend.

According to a report in The Orange County Register, Buena Park police Cpl. Bret Carter said the incident could be interpreted as a hate crime, but that determination has not been made.

Following an earlier report of vandalism Dec. 6 at the Buena Park Manor trailer park, police said Durazo admitted to spraying gang graffiti on a wall that sits next to the Sikh temple, police said.

According to the newspaper report, Durazo agreed to clean the wall in exchange for park representatives not pressing charges; he was not arrested, authorities said.

But around 8 p.m. on the evening of Dec. 6 Gurdwara temple officials reported graffiti on their parking lot walls and on a commercial truck that had a vulgar phrase about the ISIS terror group.

Investigators realized it looked identical to the writing found earlier at the trailer park. “It was the same exact thing and the same exact colors,” Carter said.
