Rahul Gandhi, Nirmala Sitharaman clash over her claim on HAL
NEW DELHI: A Twitter war broke out on Sunday between Rahul Gandhi and Nirmala Sitharaman over a TOI report, with the Congress president claiming that she had lied to Parliament over orders placed with defence PSU HAL and the defence minister hitting back by furnishing contract records and advising him to read the full TOI article.
Gandhi referred to the report — it appeared in TOI’s front page on Sunday — on HAL awaiting formal orders for projects referred to by Sitharaman during a Lok Sabha debate on the Rafale deal and said: “When you tell one lie, you need to keep spinning out more lies.” He said she should place documents detailing Rs 1 lakh crore of government contracts to the PSU or resign.
