The executive committee of the Los Angeles chapter of OFBJP

An Overseas Friends of the BJP-LA chapter was formally inaugurated Jan. 26 at the Haveli Restaurant here with Artesia Mayor Tony Lima as the chief guest.

After Anil Mahajan welcomed the gathering, Dilip Butani explained to the audience details about BJP’s “Mission 272+, 2014.”

National OFBJP-USA president Chandrakant Patel then formally declared the OFBJP-LA chapter open and individually installed the organizing committee.

Vijay Patil apprised the audience of the Los Angeles chapter’s official website (ofbjpla.org), re-emphasized the objectives of the organization, and introduced the committee members to the audience. Rajiv Srivastav spoke about upcoming events, while Latesh Bhambhani spoke about social media.

Following speeches by Ravji Patel, Dr. Sinduri Jaisinghe, Vasu Pawar, Sangeetika Advani and Dr. Aarti Shah, Lima congratulated the team and wished the BJP good luck in the forthcoming election.

The BJP’s main objective is to work towards projecting a positive and correct image of India and its people in the United States and foreign media, and correct any distortions in the media’s reporting of current events taking place in India.

The party wishes to promote the philosophy of “Integral Humanism” and also to foster a cordial relationship between Asian Indian and North American people by establishing direct communication channels with local ethnic and national media, said a press release.
