You can cruise your vehicle on the state’s only drive-in beach at Muzhappilangad, pamper yourself at an upmarket resort near Kovalam’s picture-postcard crescent beaches or spend days admiring Varkala’s gorgeous cliff-side setting Varkala. Soak in the region’s history at Bekal Beach and Fort, as well as at Kappad Beach, the landing place of Portuguese navigator Vasco da Gama’s ship in 1498. If you’re looking tranquillity, explore the pristine beaches of Thiruvambadi, Cherai, Marari and Kappil.

1. Hawa Beach

Located between the southern and northern ends of Kovalam, Hawa Beach (also known as Eve’s Beach) is only a five-minute walk from the Lighthouse Beach.

2. Samudra Beach

Still unaffected by the tourist traffic, this beach is separated by a large promontory from the southern side of Kovalam.
