Birla Institute of Technology and Sciences, famously known as BITS-Pilani is the largest privately funded deemed university renowned for high standard of education. It is the only private Indian institution that has set up a campus outside of India, in Dubai, in addition to its three existing campuses in India, at Pilani, Hyderabad and Goa.

The institution was founded by late G.D.Birla – an eminent industrialist, a philanthropist and a close associate of Mahatma Gandhi. BITS symbolizes entrepreneurship and leadership and has world renowned reputation for creating immensely talented technical and business leaders.

BITSAA members are estimated to be around 40,000 spread over 80 countries and are strongly connected through BITSAA International which is a registered non-profit organization.

The fact that BITSAA International, under the leadership of its outgoing Chairman and CEO, Raju Reddy, another Silicon Valley entrepreneur, has presented a US $1,000,000/- check to its alma matter in the recent BITSAA Global Meet 50@50, held in Hyderabad on January 5, is  a testimony of its global strength.

On 23 December, 2013, BITSAA was invited to ring the NASDQ opening bell, a unique honor rarely bestowed on an educational institution located outside America. This was in recognition of the number of technology companies started by BITS Pilani graduates in America, thus creating thousands of technology jobs.

Local Houston chapter of BITSAA was ceremonially launched on Aug 2, 2013 by Consul General, P. Harish and his wife Nandita to coincide with the BITSian day celebrations all over the world.
