Houston Iftar: Annual Ramadan Dinner with the Mayor


HOUSTON:  The Yearly Tradition returns with the “Houston Iftar” Annual Ramadan Dinner coming up on Saturday, July 12 at 6:00 PM at the picturesque Bayou City Event Center. The Honorable Mayor Annise Parker will be the keynote speaker at this auspicious event.

The event is being organized by Abu Dhabi, Baku, Istanbul and Karachi Sister City Associations Along With The Islamic Society of Greater Houston and all Collaborating organizations including:

Our goal is to make it an inclusive event and we would like to urge all Houstonians to be part of this important occasion for the Muslim community. We are honored to showcase our diversity and culture in Houston.”

This event is open to the public: Only thing is that RSVP is needed, so that organizers can arrange for ample food and space. Sponsorship opportunities to introduce ones’ business and organization to diverse and affluent group of people are available. Sponsors and participating organization will be listed on the program. Organizers have urged to share this event information with everyone in the community.

Event will also include religious leaders, interfaith leaders, elected officials, diplomats, media, and people from several facets of life.

Ramadan is the 9th month of the Islamic calendar, is the month of fasting. Throughout the month, adult Muslims around the world abstain from food, drink, smoking, and sexual relations between dawn; and sunset. In the Holy Month of Ramadan, Muslims give in extra acts of charity, and spend extra time in worship. Fasting helps to teach patience, self-control and humility.
