IITAGH Partners with HCC to Host Another CodeFest
HOUSTON: High School Students. Houston Community College Students. Small Business Owners.
They all came to the /C@deFest// 1.2 event hosted jointly by IIT Alumni of Greater Houston (IITAGH) and the Houston Community College (HCC). “In partnering with the Houston Community College, we are taking this event to the next level,” said Anand Chauhan, an IIT Madras graduate who taught the workshop.
“This event was jointly hosted by HCC’s Center of Excellence for Digitaland Information Technologies, Excellence for Engineering, and Office of Entrepreneurial Initiatives, along with IIT Alumni of Greater Houston. With close to 100 participants at the event, we hit our goal and look forward to our continued partnership with IITAGH to host this event again in the coming months,” commented Ravi Brahmbhatt, Director of Student Innovation & Entrepreneurship at the HCC.
The participants got the opportunity to create their own websites and publish it live on the web. They learned the basics of HTML coding syntax and JavaScript. One of the participants commented, “It was neat to be able to create our own websites and see our changes on the internet. I enjoyed the day.”
“We are proud to have IITAGH involved not only with middle and high schools, but also with the Houston Community College with our /C@deFest// events,” said Pratish Kanani, President of the IIT Alumni of Greater Houston.
The next /C@deFest// event will be held at the HCC Alief – Hayes Campus on Saturday April 2, 2016. Anyone interested in attending can contact ravi.brahmbhatt@hccs.edu for more details. We will be working with HCC Trustee Neeta Sane to host this event.
