Join HAF and Congressman Ami Bera in Houston on September 21
HOUSTON: The only Indian-American currently serving Congress, Rep. Ami Bera (CA-7) will be the keynote speaker at HAF’s Annual Houston Awareness & Fundraising Dinner on Saturday, September 21. In addition to sharing his personal journey to Congress, Rep. Bera will also be highlighting key developments from his recent eight-day visit to India, where he met with business leaders, government officials, policy advocates and innovators in the non-profit sector.
Rep. Bera will be joined by Board member, Rishi Bhutada, a Houston native, as well as two of HAF’s fulltime staff members, Sheetal Shah and Murali Balaji, Ph.D. As HAF’s new Director of Education & Curriculum Reform, Balaji will be highlighting his extensive efforts to improve the manner in which public schools teach students about Hinduism.
From working to reform textbooks to providing national teacher trainings, Balaji has breathed new life into HAF’s advocacy efforts within the realm of academia.
