Mann Ki Baat: Every life lost in Kashmir is a loss to our nation, says PM Narendra Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday once again reiterated his government’s stand on the on-going violence in Kashmir, saying those responsible for the loss of lives will be answerable to people. He was speaking during his monthly address to the nation – Mann Ki Baat.

“Every single life that is lost in Kashmir, be that of a youth or of security personnel, it is our loss, loss to our own people, loss to our nation,” PM Modi said, adding that “people who are putting innocent young boys forward to disrupt peace in Kashmir, one day they will have to answer to these boys.”

As continued clashes between security personnel and protesters in the state has now crossed 5o days, the state government and the Centre are desperately working out measures to ease tensions. “We must do whatever it takes to restore peace in Jammu and Kashmir. It’s painful to see people dying in the Valley,” the Prime Minister said. The death toll in the violence following the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen militant Burhan Wani has now crossed 70.
