Himesh Reshammiya is back to facing the camera. While it is a known fact by now that his next film as an actor is titled The Xpose, the newest development is that it would be directed by Ananth Narayan Mahadevan, who recently won 4 National Awards for his Marathi film Mee Sindhutai Sapkal.

“Other than this, Mahadevan has been at the helm of another critically acclaimed film Red Alert – The War Within (2009). Now with The Xpose, he and Himesh are looking at probing the decade of 60s which has never been explored before. In fact it would be entering a space that will be a revelation in Hindi cinema.”

Himesh and Ananth go back a long way as former has composed music for latter’s Dil Maange More and Aksar (remember the chartbuster ‘Jhalak Dikhla Jaa‘?).

As per sources, The Xpose would be set as a musical thriller in the zone of films like Shammi Kapoor starrerTeesri Manzil with a setting of the Hindi film industry of the 60s. HR Musik produced The Xpose too would be high on music with Himesh and YoYo Honey Singh, who is also playing a negative part in the film and collaborating on the music.

“The characters in that era were truly larger than life and the glamour industry was going through the biggest change when the first sex symbol of the film industry was introduced in this era. The sudden death of a female star plunges the film in a cauldron of mystery,” the source continues, “Himesh, who has lost 12 kgs, will play a character inspired by yesteryear actor Raajkumar, a suspended cop turned superstar.”

The Xpose has Irrfan Khan making a special appearance as a character inspired by a real black marketer Alec D’ Costa. Not just that as Himesh and Ananth have finalised Life of Pi actor Adil Hussain to play a character on the lines of Don Vardha Rajan. Moreover, another National Award winner Bengali actor, Sabyasachi Chakraborty, has also been roped in to play a popular Showman of the 60s….
