HOUSTON: Houstonian’s are in for a treat on Friday, June 20 at Stafford Civic Center at 7.30pm. A 90 minute multimedia experience on reflections of of Tagore’s life
Jurney, is being presented by SAMSKRITI and is produced by Kushalbose productions. Special local flavor has been added to the show with special appearance by Rathna Kumar and Chitra Divakaruni Banerjee.

In this play I have tried to follow Tagore’s life’s “journey” from his birth to death – trying to chronicle and explain How/What/Who influenced and inspired Tagore and how those people/places/persons affected his creativity
So this play is about Tagore’s life told from the perspective of his intellectual journey – one that has never been attempted before. I am proud of the fact that all showings of this play received rave reviews and everywhere the audience reaction was the same – we knew very little about the man – Tagore – before watching the play. It is hard to get people to write something AFTER the show.
Another important thing I would like you to know is – I wrote the play in English because I wanted to take Tagore out of the clasps of the Bengali people and deliver him to Non-Bengalis and Americans. Most importantly I wanted to reach the second generation Indian Americans who know very little about Tagore and his message. This play will give them (hopefully) a quest to learn more about Tagore because Tagore’s vision and messages are timeless and universal. I tried to make this point very very clear in my play because I not only want people to read Tagore, bit too live Tagore!
It truly is a rare opportunity for Houstonians to experience this life journey of Tagore, with exciting visuals, lilting dances and commentary in English.
