Open Mic Night at India House



HOUSTON: On the eve of October 1, India House and GlobalDesis jointly organized a very successful and entertaining Open Mic Night for Houston audience, a musical performance from GlobalDesis group. This was second Open Mic Night hosted at India House.  This event saw some changes from the last one based on audience feedback. This time, all participants had to go through auditions and 10 selected performers were given a chance to sing on the stage. Top three performers were awarded by India House.

After dinner during social hour, event started with performance by a young child, Tanvi Gupta followed by her sister Riya Gupta.  There were some amazing performances from the audience on songs like Saiyaan, Dil Hoom Hoom Kare, Katiya Karun, Mai Tenu Samjhanwa and many more. GlobalDesis members- Ravi Boddu, Padma Iyengar, Sankalp Srivastava and Maumita Chaudhury enthralled the audience with some melodious songs.


To add variety, dance performances were included this time. Odissi Academy performed on classical Odissi music and Ambica Agarwal performed with her young kids on ‘Maiya Yashoda’.

Judges of the evening Shah, Neera Vipin and Sankalp adjudged Tanvi Sinha the winner, Debrupa Mukherjee as runners up and Nilesh as second runners up.  Host of the evening was Col. Vipin Kumar, Executive Director of India House who kept the audience engaged with his jokes and one liners. The whole event was conceptualized by Sankalp, Founder of GlobalDesis Musical Group.
