Physical Therapist Sonal Bhuchar Named to OneStar National Service Commission

Indian American physical therapist Sonal Bhuchar was appointed by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to the OneStar National Service Commission.

Abbott made the announcement of the appointment Dec. 7. Bhuchar’s term will run through March 15, 2018.

Along with Bhuchar, Abbott appointed Ronnie Hagerty as the chairman; Lisa Lucero as vice chairman; with Laura Dixon, Roger O’Dell, Annette Juba, Kate Williamson, James Senegal and Kirk Beckert as members of the commission.

The commission board promotes volunteerism in Texas and oversees the administration of the AmeriCorps programs for the state.

Bhuchar, of Sugar Land, is a self-employed physical therapist at Therapeutic Concepts and the office manager at Sugar Land Med-Ped Clinic. Additionally, she holds leadership positions for Child Advocates of Fort Bend, Literacy Council of Fort Bend, Fort Bend Cares and the city of Sugar Land PARCS.

She previously was a board of trustee member and board president for the Fort Bend Independent School District, and has been involved in the Fort Bend Education Foundation, ACCESS Health, Sugar Land Cultural Arts and Sugar Land Heritage Foundation.
