Protests continue in Visakhapatnam
Visakhapatnam: Protests against division of the state continued on the sixth day on Monday. An elderly man died of cardiac arrest while taking part in protest for Samaikyandhra in Bheemunipatnam here this morning.
According to reports reaching here, Malleti Adinarayana, 65, a resident of Bank Colony in Bheemunipatnam, took part in the protest rally organised by Samaikyandhra activists. He, along with others, raised slogans in a high pitch in support of Samaikyandhra when he suddenly collapsed.
Others in the rally rushed him to a nearby hospital immediately where doctors declared him brought dead. Muslims, in large numbers, took out a procession and formed a human chain at the busy Jagadamba junction bringing the traffic to a grinding halt. Commuters faced trouble due to the blockade.
TD activists faced tense moments when Gajuwaka MLA Ch. Venkata Ramaiah wielded a pistol and threatened to kill them, when they gheraoed him during a protest at GVMC. Pendurthy MLA P. Ramesh Babu was taken into custody by police when he launched relay hunger strike and later, tried to barge into the GVMC office….
