AUSTIN: Rachana Sudhir, 12 years, won the Gold medal in the recently concluded USA Taekwondo (USAT) Nationals Competition held at Austin Convention Center, Austin, TX from July 4- 10. Being the youngest in the 12-14 years category, Rachana struck gold in Board Breaking and bronze in the Poomsae (forms) competition in the her belt category for girls. To win this highly competitive timed event, Rachana executed various breaking techniques using her hands and legs rapidly to break 13 boards adopting various Taekwondo styles. She competed with several competitors who came from all over the country and took the honors to make Texas proud. This achievement of hers comes after several months of hardwork and determination and long late weekend practice hours. Rachana’s focus and commitment to the sport worked well in her favor to win her the coveted medals. Rachana has been attending the White Tiger UMA Taekwondo in Spring, TX for the last 2 years and is coached by Master Kim. She lives with her father Sudhir Padmanabhan and mother Lakshmi Gopinath in the Country Lakes Estates subdivision in Spring, TX.
