Rustom box office collection day 9: Akshay Kumar’s film makes Rs 101.8 cr
Rustom box office collection is showing no signs of slowing down despite entering the second week of its release. The Akshay Kumar film has made it to the Rs 100-crore club and will add many more crores to its box office collection before this weekend is done. This is Akshay’s fastest film to make Rs 100 crore; earlier the record was held by Airlift (10 days).
The courtroom drama that stars Akshay Kumar as a Navy officer earned about Rs 6 crore on Saturday, according to trade estimates. This brings the total earning of the film to Rs 101.31 crore. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh had tweeted earlier, “#Rustom continued to dominate the marketplace, despite a plethora of fresh releases… [Week 2] Fri 4.41 cr. Total: ₹ 95.31 cr. India biz.”
This is Akshay Kumar’s third film in 2016 to earn over Rs 100 crore at the BO. Airlift and Housefull 3 were his other big hits this year while Rustom is his sixth film ever to make Rs 100 crore. Akshay’s biggest hit till date is Rowdy Rathore with Rs 134 crore in box office collection.
The film also starring Ileana D’Cruz and Esha Gupta is also doing well internationally. “#Rustom fares VERY WELL Overseas… Week 1: $ 3.77 million [₹ 25.31 cr],” Taran tweeted.
