HOUSTON: Mother’s Day is a day of spiritual nurturing and practices to honor mothers, a great day of appreciation and reflection!

With the blessings of His Holiness, the Sant Nirankari Mission Houston celebrated Mother’s Day on May 10, in India House, where the congregation holds its weekly sadhsangats every Sunday morning. There are other missions in Texas in Dallas, San Antonio, Brownsville and Laredo.

Children happily expressed their love and thankfulness for their moms in songs, words and affectionate presents that ‘Mother’s Day’ is a day to appreciate all the good things your mother has done for you. Without a mother, we are nowhere in life. The mother’s heart calms all fears.

Young kids showed a presentation (well-edited by one young boy) how Anna Jarvis, from West Virginia came up with the idea of honoring all mother’s on the second Sunday in May. They also expressed their gratitude for the Holy Mother Pujyya Mataji and showed a video featuring her.

Mothers were celebrated at the sadhsangat held on Mother’s Day, May 10 by the Sant Nirankari Mission Houston. A respected community elder, Lakshmi Thakkar, affectionately known as maaji, could not attend but sent her blessings.

According to their beliefs, the sadhsangat is like a mother; an umbrella for their kids and Raj Mataji and Pujyya Mataji Holy Mothers will always care for them as they love and protect them.

The satsang was conducted by Shalu Keswani who played the dholuk. After several bhajans and songs, all the mothers at the satsang were honored with flowers and a small gift. At the front of the gathering sat the elderly Rev. Taraji, who has been blind for many years, to give the final blessings and thank all the spiritual mothers for their efforts for shaping the children.
