HOUSTON: Sewa International is the only South Asian nonprofit organization that has made Houston its focus and we want to work to make Houston a better place to live. Our key focus areas are refugee and Immigrant education programs through A.S.P.I.R.E  program ( Assuring Student Performance In Refugee And Immigrant Education ) and Family Services. Family Services is a program that helps South Asian families in times of distress and provides a safety network in times of adversity, like death bereavement and unforeseen circumstances. If you feel connected to Houston and want to make a difference in the city you call home, please come out and support us on October 3, at our H.E.L.P (Helping Every Life Prosper) 2015 fundraising event. We have lined up a very interesting evening for you! Come and experience the stories of refugees that made Houston their home. Hear from school administrators of their challenges in dealing with the refugee and immigrant influx in Houston area .

Our keynote speaker is fellow Houstonian Sonal Shah, Sonal is an economist and entrepreneur who has spent her career focused on actionable innovation in government, business and the non-profit sectors. She is the former Deputy Assistant to the President and Director of the first White House Office of Social Innovation and Civic Participation that focused on investing in and scaling innovative models in the social sector.  She also served on President Obama’s Transition Board overseeing the Technology, Innovation, Government Reform working group.  Before joining the White House, Shah led Google’s global development initiatives for its philanthropy, Google.org.  Prior to Google, Shah was a Vice President at Goldman Sachs, Inc. where she developed and managed the firm’s environmental strategy. There will be delightful dance and music to keep you entertained followed by sumptuous authentic Indian Food !
Sewa International Houston is 501c3 nonprofit organization and our focus is to serve the local Houston community and also to help promote volunteerism in the Greater Houston Area. Houston is blessed to have a thriving global community and economy but this growing global economy is not without its growing pains and problems. Not many people are aware that we take the maximum number of refugees and immigrants of all the major American cities. We as Houstonians and active members of this thriving Indo-American community need to focus, get involved and give back to Houston .

We urge you to join us on This October 3, and make Houston your priority !
