HOUSTON: Sewa International is a hindu faith based nonprofit that has been helping the greater Houston community since 2008. The Houston chapter of Sewa has been serving the community for the past years, through projects such as the Bhutanese Refugee Empowerment Program, and the Family Services Program. Family Services is a unique program that provides assistance to people in emergency situations and strengthens families through lectures and workshops. The Bhutanese Refugee Empowerment Program has served over 1,500 refugees in the Houston area with tutoring, family support,and skill development. Sewa has also empowered numerous youth and volunteers by providing them opportunities to give back to the community with programs like the Get Inspired Houston Internship Program, the Lead Houston Program, and other local volunteering events. Sewa also provides tutoring and mentorship programs in the Alief Independent School District.  Sewa International is invested in the Greater Houston community and we strive to make the life of fellow Houstonians better every single day.

On Oct 3,2015 Sewa International is hosting its Annual Fundraiser H.E.L.P ‘2015 . The keynote speaker is Sonal Shah. Sonal Shah is Professor and the founding Executive Director of the Beeck Center for Social Impact & Innovation at Georgetown University. Sonal is an economist and entrepreneur who has spent her career focused on actionable innovation in the public and private sectors. Most recently, she was the Deputy Assistant to the President and founding Director of the White House Office of Social Innovation and Civic Participation.She spent seven years at the U.S. Department of Treasury where she was an international economist working on timely development issues, including post-conflict development in Bosnia, Asian financial crisis, and poverty reduction in Africa. She then went to Goldman Sachs and Google while simultaneously co-founded Indicorps, a nonprofit building a new generation of socially conscious global leaders. She is a senior fellow at the Case Foundation and the Center for American Progress. Sonal serves on the Board of Social Finance, Inc. and the Washington Area Women’s Foundation and served as the Chair of the G7/G8 taskforce on Impact Investing.

Help ‘2015 will also bring you dance performances by Kalakriti Dance performing arts showcasing the unity in DIversity of India and a dance drama “Madhav Murari” presented by Anjali Center of performing arts.
