Tagore Week Celebration 2016

Tagore

HOUSTON: To commemorate Tagore’s  155th Birth anniversary and his legacy of literature, music, art and inspirational global vision, Tagore Society of Houston (TSH) has arranged a gala dinner and a panel discussion on April 30 at 6 pm at the India House. Swadesh Chatterjee, the driving force behind the passage of US-India civilian nuclear deal in 2008, will be the key-note speaker of the TSH Annual Talk. “Building Bridges: The Role of Indian Americans in U.S – India Relations”, a book authored by Chatterjee will also be launched at the function.  Building bridges as a theme, has striking alignment with Tagore’s dream of universalism and inspirational global vision. The panelists taking part in the discussion will be Ray Vickery, Mallika Rajaratnam, Neel Bhan, Rathna Kumar and the session will be moderated by Pradeep Anand.

The celebrations will continue at the Tagore Grove (at Ray Miller Park on Eldridge Pkwy) on May 7 at 10 am, where “Tagore Day Proclamation” from Honorable Judge Emmett will be read and garlanding of Tagore statue will take place. May 7 evening will be a FREE community event full of cultural activities at  Houston Durgabari.

TSH would like to be part of a movement where inspirational learning from Tagore will elevate all to the status of true global citizens.
