Torrential rain batters Kerala; educational institutions to remain shut tomorrow
Torrential rainfall lashed Kerala on Sunday, resulting in widespread damage, landslides and waterlogging in various parts of the state. Very heavy rainfall has been predicted in few places of Kerala and heavy showers in Lakshadweep for two days, according to officials of India Meteorological department.
High range Idukki and coastal Alappuzha district also witnessed relentless downpour, while waterlogging caused traffic blocks in some parts of Kochi. The state government has announced a holiday on Monday in educational institutions with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan directing district collectors and officials to take necessary precautionary steps to meet any eventuality.
