Tulsi Vivah Celebrations at The Temple of Ma Gayatri
KATY: The temple of Ma Gayatri and the Gayatri Consciousness Center located in Katy, held it’s very first Tulsi Vivah the marriage ceremony of Lord Shri Krishna with everyone’s beloved plant Tulsi. The grand celebrations took place over a period of two days, on November 21 and 22. The first day’s event held mehndi ceremony which was attended by very enthusiastic ladies who patiently got their hands decorated with beautiful mehndi designs by some very talented volunteers. Amongst the mehndi volunteers were Shreya Shah, Vandana Agarwal, Anamika Kale, Komal Patel and several more. Shreya Shah filled the mandir hall with some beautiful melodious marriage songs.
The mehndi was followed by a delicious dinner Prasad. After prasad , the devotees enjoyed dandia raas and garba with live music ! The heartwarming melodious songs were sung by Ruchira Shah, Hemantbhai Bhavsar and team. On the keyboard was Renison Macwan and dholi Rakeshbhai Khatri rocked the stage with the beat of his drums. The devotees enjoyed the raas and garbas till midnight and closed the night in anticipation of the next day’s events.
Sunday morning witnessed the ‘manglik prasango’ of Ganesh puja, Grah Shanti, and Mandap Murhut. The ceremonies were performed by Manharbhai Patel along with Sangitaben Tailor and Prabhben Barvalia. The vivah ceremonies began soon after the lunch Prasad. A festive baraat commenced from the entrance of the temple complex and the baraatis danced to the beat of the drum, in front of the palakhi carrying Lord Shri Krishna dressed in His best marriage outfit suitable for a groom!
Lord Krishna was well received by the devotees from Tulsi side and the marriage ceremonies began with Tulsi dressed like a beautiful dulhan in her yellow silk garments. The two hour vivah ceremony concluded in a special dance performance by the children of Bal Sanskar Shalaa.
