Vajpayee Statue Unveiled in Debra Bazar, West Medinipur, India


West Bengal State BJP president Shri Dilip Ghosh and Dr Bishnupada Goswami of Houston, USA unveiled the statue of former Prime Minister Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee in Debra Bazar, West Bengal on occasion of 94th birthday anniversary on December 25, 2018.

Addressing the people after the inauguration of the statue by video conference, Dr Goswami said that the statue has been erected here to keep Atal Bihari Vajpayee memories alive and make people realize his contributions to the country. As Prime Minister, Vajpayee implemented many welfare schemes and developed the country in all aspects. He was conferred India’s highest civilian honor, the Bharat Ratna, by the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee in 2015. The administration of Narendra Modi declared in 2014 that Vajpayee’s birthday, 25 December, would be marked as Good Governance Day. He died on 16 August 2018 due to age-related illness.

Earlier BJP district president Mrs. Antara Bhattacharya, Ghatal Lok Sabha observer Mr. Anup Chakraborty and other dignitaries like Chaya Bera & Asim Hui garlanded the statue and offered their tributes.
