Councilman Khan Visits Ibn Sina Foundation Clinic
HOUSTON: City of Houston District F Councilman M. J. Khan stopped by for a visit to the Ibn Sina Foundation Clinic at its location on S. Wilcrest and West Bellfort this past Monday and had a chance to discuss continuing operations.
The Clinic has become quite popular in the area and serves a wide swath of the community since it first opened its doors in 2001. It has relocated to its new home in March 2007 and the operations are managed by an 11 member Board of Directors.
“The Clinic stands out due to the dedication of the volunteer doctors and the professional way in which it is managed,” explained Khan. “We never found any issue that would give us any second thoughts about supporting it. We have not found a single concern of the staff or the patient in the service that is provided.”
Board member Dr. Nasir Panjwani noted that the Clinic’s new facility owed a great deal to the efforts of Councilman Khan in enabling grant money for the construction of the building. The funding for the furniture and equipment came through private donations.
Khan hoped that the Clinic could become a model for the City in pursuit of additional HUD moneys for other projects.
He also mentioned the Indian Doctor’s Clinic, which has also offered similar services to the community at its leased office off Bellaire and the Southwest Freeway.
India House also runs a charity clinic at its new facility at West Bellfort and South Gessner that is staffed by volunteered doctors.

Exercise moderately or vigorously at least once a week, live with someone, avoid smoking and continue to volunteer or work into your 70s or 80s.
